Don't know what to think about that. The current indie game scene sort of came along towards the end of the console cycle, but will there be new or altered console games that make the scene irrelevant again? And that's before you consider rising PC sales, whether mobile games count...

One thing that needs to be gotten away from is, 'OMJF, this is so atmospheric!?' etc, when the game plainly isn't, or hyping what is basically a ZX Spectrum game like it had descended from the clouds :roll:

Some of the genuinely innovative indie titles are getting coverage because more people are getting fed up with the triple AAA title sausage machine, pumping out the same gunk year after year. It's [LIFTED] boring.

If some indie developers gain prominence, then more talent is being brought into the mainstream gaming industry. It could mark the end of this period of stagnation, so I get what he's saying about cycles; but why put such a negative slant on it?
