It'd make sense - look at the catch-up game Sony's still playing, though those expensive BR drives didn't help

Quote:
In a discussion over the need for physical media in gaming, Moore said: "[The industry is] at least a decade away from saying goodbye to a physical disc.

Anyone else find it hard to imagine a day where the UK will ever have the sustained net capability to download an entire game without having to leave your system on for about 3 days?

But rushing to market and cutting corners turned the 360 into the console equivalent of a bic razor, it's cheap and everyone has one, but it doesn't last long and is far from refined.

I'd rather MS took their time and built it properly.

I agree. The Xbox 360 had a few issues at launch which put people off.

Not just at launch, they still fail in their thousands every month, as well as gouge discs if it experiences a mild vibration.

I hear what you're saying, but it didn't stop M$ raking in the cash in the meantime, and how many people had a small library of games and friends with a 360 that meant they probably just bought another one?

For many people, waiting isn't an option, especially if you think Sony might be stupid enough to try and charge extortionately again - who'd bet against the company that thinks people will work extra shifts so they can justify a ridiculous price?

If they make a product that doesn't break down and deafen me, they are welcome to charge more. The PS3 wasn't extortionate when you consider everything was included. To spec a 360 to the same standard (RROD's and disc scratching aside), it would have cost as much as the PS3 at the time. Wifi was extra, a charger for the controller, online, even storage was extra if you bought a Core.

But that is a feature to encourage further sales of games DVD's

They may well count the replacements (if any) as extra sales...who knows. Such a bad console and I'm glad I no longer have one.

I still have not got one, a friend had one that had the red ring of death within a few months of buying.
