Survey seems dodgy to me (they usually are), but more bad PR no matter what way you cut it

Put it this way, I don't know anyone with a 360 that hasn't red-ringed...I'm surprised the number isn't higher.

A self-selecting survey conducted by CNET UK uncovered a staggering 60 per cent failure rate among Xbox 360 owners.

There is the problem. A self selecting survey is as about as reliable as a chocolate fire guard or Ofcom.

A quick survey of my self selecting panel of my friends with Xbox 360's shows a failure rate of 0%

I do.

You know one more ;)

Mine haven't, and I went from a pre-HDMI pro to a Jasper (sold the pro as I got a great deal on the Arcade with HDMI)

They might have red ringed, but how many have been replaced within 3 years, I imagine the only ones that havent have been ones that have been chipped/x-clamped which really isn't a fix, it's a short term solution and warranty voiding

I actually haven't had an xbox RROD on me yet.

@Fin: I bought an RROD xbox last year and xclamp'ed/flashed that one. Still working fine, and it's one of the very first ones (2005 model) with the white DVDROM plate and button thing. Although now it's sprayed black :D

It's not a fix though, all it does is force the board back into position, it doesn't work every time, the only way to do that is to professionaly resolder the joints

True, although a good 5 minutes with a hot air gun makes a pretty good job tbh.
