Just picked up Bulletstorm from Morrisons for a fiver. I suspect that's going on my 'games I've played recently' list tonight.

Black Ops 2 - In terms of the campaign, it's structurally brilliant. The graphics, speed, sound, suspense etc are all excellent. It's only real problem is so much impact is taken away by the narrative; jumping from the 70/80s to 2025 and back again with about 20 characters will see you confused within the first half hour, and it doesn't get any better in that sense. If you haven't played the original, you might not even finish this despite all the action. Again, there's some properly brilliant action but you'd be better renting this if all you want is the campaign. I seriously doubt anybody will sit through it all again just to get a different ending, and the Strike missions are just rubbish, especially in that regard. The multiplayer's only slightly better than MW3; this series seems to have peaked with BLOPS. The weapons don't have an individual feel to them any more, and the maps are pokey as all hell. It plays more like Quake, purely run and gun rather than selecting a good load-out for individual maps. The 'pick 10' load-out scheme is needlessly complicated in every way, especially when most of the guns make no difference! In short, there's something seriously wrong in a CoD game when I can place top two just by hip-shooting

Planetside 2 was recently released with an F2P option, I've been playing as an NC and am enjoying it. The easiest way to describe it would be like a game of Battlefield 3, where one map holds about 10 bases and each of the 3 teams has around 700 players. You have the same sort of combined-arms warfare: infantry, tanks and aircraft, but over a much larger scale. You also don't have to worry about idiots stealing all the good vehicles just to get to their sniping spot, as each player has an independent pool of resources (gained over time by holding certain facilities) with which to spawn any mode of transport, be it quad bikes, tanks, aircraft including bombers that require 3 people to properly operate, 1-man fighters or 12-man troop transports armed with 4 turrets. Speaking of which, here is a video showing about 100 people being dropped on an enemy base with a fighter escort. Contains dubstep.

Amazing Spider-Man - decent enough game, the mechanics of it are really good, but it suffers from the usual lack of mission variety. Still worth renting, though it contains a massive movie spoiler!
Thor - Should be banished to that ice kingdom in the film, awful in every way!

Singularity - Only started really, but so far very good in a Bioshock way. Remarkably good at ratcheting up the tension!
I read Activision buried it, which sounds about right...

Finally installed Metro 2033.
It's pretty much like underground levels in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. without the bugs, and the pinpoint accuracy from enemies at distance. I've only put about 6 hours into it so far, but I'm enjoying it. I like the idea of ammunition as currency - perhaps western governments should adopt that idea, the next time they decide to wage a war on another 'brown' country.

Started playing Vice City again since it was in the news that the iOS version has been released.
Still playing Acorn Elite. I'm a little way past the first mission and my combat rating is Poor.

How does the iPad handle it? Elite is great. I have been trying to get it running on my RPi, but with little success.
