I think for a few years now, I've not been bothered with GT5. It's delayed so much that I'm not expecting it.

The fact that it is being released after Xmas is gonna seriously hurt its sales.

It would have had an extra boost with Christmas but will people still buy it anyway or trade in other games to get it in the new year anyway?

If I had to guess, even an enormous launch might not help it when everyone's got new games, overspent, overate, and thinking about going back to work

You've seen the update to that story?

Quote:
[UPDATE] Though retailers have the game as coming out in 2011, Yamauchi tells blog discs are being "stamped as we speak."

[UPDATE] For Sony's part, the pre-Christmas release appears to still be on. "We are still aiming for this holiday for launch," a Sony representative told GameSpot. "As far as the Amazon date goes, retailers have arbitrary dates that get listed to coincide with any given title's launch window if we haven't provided a specific date. So it's completely driven from their side as a placeholder."

What's more, Yamauchi indicated today in an interview with Jalopnik that, far from a delay, Gran Turismo 5 has actually gone gold. "The discs are being stamped as we speak," Yamauchi told the blog.

My money's on it being out in time for Xmas.

You have made me think. Would it actually do better after the New Year? There may be far fewer big releases to compete against so getting press coverage of being #1 selling game.

I reckon GT6 is unlikely to be a brand new game but more likely to be an "upgrade" of GT5 - more cars, different tracks but everything else exactly the same.

I don't think that guy would have been happy if the game made the toast...

I want a Fanatec wheel or G27. Was hoping Santa might bring me one but with saving for the wedding I doubt it. Looks like it will be Sixaxis and behind car view for me :(
