I've had this on the licensing tests. On one of the speedway tests, they do seem to edge over a little if you're right next to them, but otherwise will happily smack into you. Not very realistic!

This is really going to piss me off. Way more than the odd dodgy model or shadow.

It is annoying. There you are on a wide piece of track and a car steams up and rams you. No reason, and very annoying.

Also noting that the AI drivers brake hard and early, so you can get past them if you dare to brake slightly later and accelerate hard.

Maybe I should abandon getting a wheel. What's the point of trying to recreate a SIM experience if every other car on the track behaves like a tram. I could drive around Nottingham and get the same real experience. ;)

GT has always had AI that worked in this fashion though. Part of the challenge is driving round them, no?
But yes, it was frustrating to start with, but then I just accepted it as being part of the game.

Think I may give GT5 a miss and only head back to racing games when Shift 2:Unleashed is released in the spring clicky

Hopefully it'll be as gripping as they reckon. I enjoyed GT4 to a point but I gave up on it as I prefer more realistic and involved gameplay over a choice of a gazillion cars.

Not when the you are side by side another car and it’s constantly side swiping you it isn’t. I’ve just been playing, and tis is what happened. It could have just passed me, but because I was in it’s “slot” it ended up ramming me off the track. That’s just idiotic.

I've had issues with being side-swiped. The cars act the same whether I'm right next to them or right behind them. In one of the license races (the one around Rome in italian supercars) was horrendous for this, especially with the no-touch/disqualified rule.

Plus most of the cars are horrendous to look at. Even the GTR was made nasty by the jagged edges everywhere.

I really wish I hadn't spent £130 on the signature edition.

I managed to get that one cleared. It requires gentle progression, and there are places where cars bunch and sow down and you can squeeze past.

I need to stop reading this thread. I've gone from wanting a G27 and GT5 to maybe not bothering with a wheel to now thinking I might not bother with the game!

I eventually managed to stop hitting everything and got a bronze. Though I was fourth and the first three cars were bunched together. An infuriating track that made me leave it at Bronze, rather than push for silver.

I honestly would say go and try it out in a shop or at a friend's. You'll either love it and will get the G27, or will hate it. I was initially quite impressed but then there's bits that wind me up. However, I've always been an "arcade racer" gamer. The likes of NFS suits me better. I've honestly had to slow my style down and play "properly" - I'm more used to bouncing off other cars to swing around a corner rather than slow down and follow a "driving line".

I think the graphics have been overhyped. I've never played Forza 3 so can't compare, but after five years of development, I expected perfection. TBH, I've not been a fan of the graphics in COD:Black Ops either so it may be just me. I've not played GT5 online, which may prove more fun.

GT5 is one of those games where the more effort you put in, the more you get out of it.

You want to try the final race in the next license then. I strikes me as being nigh on impossible.

This is very true.

At uni a mate had GT3 and we spent weeks trying to 100% the game. In the end we managed to get about 99.3% (or something) but it started off where a week got us 50%, the next week 75%, the next 80% and it got slower and slower from that point on. In the end we had the loooooong endurance races left but couldn't be bothered doing them.

That's what the Stig feature was for - we'd leave ours running overnight sometimes...

The B-spec feature only came in for GT4. Otherwise we would have done.
