i got mine yesterday, played through the whole single player on normal, had a bash at online and its pretty good: only played Rush mode for a few hours though.

did anyone else think its a bit silly giving the medic an LMG? given their ability to revive players it seems waaay too overpowered, ive seen a lot of squads full of medics just run into a base, continuously heal/revive each other and win the game, even if their team was losing, it happened far too much in BF2 aswell. i reckon LMGs should go to the assault class (or whatever its called), along with some 'nades to make up for the loss of the launcher, and medics should be given assault rifles.

I do agree the Medic LMG is a bit over powered... it worked better with the "support" class from 2142.

As you say, the problem is that the LMG is a force to be reckoned with at close-medium/medium-long ranges and seems to make the assault rifle a bit defunct especially when you put an ACOG (if you can) or Red Dot on it. The 100-200 round clips as well just make it a spray machine easily outgunning most classes up close bar someone with a shotgun.

I think the medic should be given the same SMG as the Engineers... or give the Engineer's LMGs ?

What i do find a joke though, is that the EA servers have been down on multiple occasions (at least 3-4 times) during the release weekend. TBH, this just isn't on... especially for the BF series which thrives on multiplayer.

BF2 had a support class too, they had LMG and restock ability. since the engineer already has the RPG i think giving him an LMG would overpower him aswell, unless he were redesignated as a "heavy weapons guy". either way, a medic with a powerful gun is seriously unbalanced.

i think you can stick an ACOG on an LMG ingame, my single player loadout consists of a scoped MG60 and a M95, seems to be decent for most situations :D

ive been having connection problems tonight, ive updated punkbuster (ANNOYING) and twiddled with the settings but its still broken  didnt know the servers went down though :?

With regards to the Support Class, am not surprised since BF2142 was essentially a re-imagined BF2. Didn't play much of the latter though so i couldn't comment.

And i'm not sure about whether or not giving the Engineer is unbalanced, it'd certainly make him more powerful, but the majority of the anti-tank weapons have very little splash damage meaning they aren't very anti-infantry (apart from the 2nd Launcher which is less powerful against vehicles but has a wider splash radius).

The thing that makes a team of medics "overpowered" i find is that when a normal person is in a firefight and dies, when he gets revived he has to regroup/fall back/take cover to reload because he used up the majority of his clip in said firefight. When you have two medics supporting each other, with a 200 (or 100) round clip, it instantly puts a medic back into action to carry on spraying away at enemies.

+ As for the M95 you mentioned, isn't that the bolt action Barrett .50 cal sniper? AKA the last Recon weapon to be unlocked? :p Although that said, the medics do also have an LMG called the "Type 88" which happens to be the Chinese Semi-Auto sniper than the Recon unlocks second.

And yeah, there's been the "typical" Punkbuster issue whereby you get kicked upon entering a match which can be fixed by manually downloading PBSetup, however the actual EA Account Authentication servers have been down multiple times over the weekend. According to the blog post, the servers have been overloaded trying to cope with 400% more traffic than any other BF game's peak number of simultaneous users. :?

hm, i guess your right about the RPGs, they are a pain to use accurately now that they drop with distance too :x

that is a fair point, but it even happened in BF2: there is just no way to get rid of a squad of medics, because they will just revive again and again. the nature of LMGs just makes that even worse.

and yes it is, i love my M95, so good in single player just clearing out a whole ambush before you even get near them :D i think the type 88 monkier is just the generic name for that style of Chinese assault weaaponry, because there were about 4 different types of it in BF2, much like G36 variants.

i havent had trouble with punkbuster before, and i have updated but it still didnt work, will try again now and see if the see if traffic has died down a little :)

I'm playing it on the 360 and I'm starting to learn the maps, etc so my scores are picking up a bit. No massively but getting there. But.... had a go as the medic (med packs and defrib unlocked) and got huge scores. After two rounds I finished 1st out of everyone. It almost seems like cheating :D

Yeah, if i go engineer i have to take the tracer dart pistol just to compensate for my really bad judgement with the RPG.... that said me with the tracer dart isn't amazing either :(. Hence why ultimately i just stick recon and let the better people take out vehicles :P

Ahhh, i mis-read that it was your SP loadout, thought it was MP so was wondering how you could get an LMG and a Sniper in a single class

The Barrett's much better in singleplayer than it is in multiplayer though since they eliminate the sniper sway and the distance between you and enemies can be much less. In MP, the Barrett imo feels rather useless, apparently in BF2 the Barrett stood out because it was the only sniper able to take down helicopter pilots, but now that's changed with all the snipers being able to shoot through the windows but the .50 Cal just means it can do damage to the vehicle. However only a long distance i find that the accuracy tradeoff for the Barrett isn't worth it since it still requires 2 shots to the chest or 1 to the head meaning that with its longer cycle time than the M24, it's technically a less useful rifle... at least imo.

The medic is technically a very good class for "new" players to rack up score because as you say you can easily gain a load by just reviving and healing other players/squad mates.

+ WRT the 360 version, sniping's so much easier on the console due to the lack of sniper sway... i mean on the PC the sway isn't that much, but i never realised how much difference it made even when the target is stationary.

And i assume you've also got the PC version and not the PS3 version?

Also, soddit, is your soldier name the same as your username ?

lol, in terms of rank i find people to be all over the place... i think that i'm around average (from what i've come across) but then again i've met some outliers who are >20.

As for negative skill... maybe it's because you're not very good   jokes :P. Not sure how they calculate it though... i have a feeling it's half-dependant on K:D ratio since when compared with many of my other friends i have the highest skill but also the best K:D ratio. That's despite me having an average "score" but a terrible "Squad Score" (it's just hard for Recons to get squad points :P, most i get are spot or kill assists). However it's not just based on that since one of my friend's changed to positive after he had a good match (and he has a terrible K:D) so it might take that into account something else... maybe Score per Minute?
