Cool. Amazon emailed to say it should arrive this morning. I'm going to have to leave until after my assessments, which finish next week.

This is hateful - I have Uncharted 3 in two weeks and Skyrim in a month, but I have a serious itch to buy this one. I am so weak  .

My Collectors Edition arrived just now. I've taken it out of it's Amazon packaging and have left it in its cellophaned state until after my assessments are done. Batman looks pretty good but difficult to tell whilst it's still wrapped up. The Joker is on one side, Batman wiping his face is on the other, and Catwoman is on the back.

The PC Version got delayed :(.

Well, quite a while back, but it hadn't been released then so i didn't have to suffer the fact people are playing it ;>.

Yeah that sucks. I wonder why they're having problems with the PC version.

The game's immense, I've spent hours just levelling up

BTW, you've to use the D-pad diagonally (specifically diagonally) when selecting some of your kit - up to that point you could just click sideways, which meant I had to go on the net to find out if the game had a bug (and if I had a useless save file)

I can't actually remember if that's the way it was in AA...

Oh yeah, the headphones are amazing with it CW :D

Awesome about the headphones. Can you detect where the enemy are coming from. Does the game support true 7.1?

The D-pad with was in Arkhan Asylum too so not an issue.

Can't say I noticed much difference in terms of individual noises or effects, it was more just a way of immersing yourself in the sound mix that already exists - it's possible though that tinkering with the settings sliders would benefit. Not entirely sure what the output is, but DTS Surround is lovely anyway :D

No clue :(.

They didn't even give a reason.

However, the PhysX stuff for the PC version looks very swish, much better than the simple hanging drapes that were for the original Arkham Asylum. Clicky

Well I finished my exam for now, so I went home and ripped open my Collectors Edition of Arkham City.

It's a fairly big box. Once you take off the shrink-wrapping, there's a plastic sleeve-type thing that's almost like a lid (covers five sides). Lift that up and the sides of the box fall to the sides. The back is a box which holds a book. The base is a drawer which holds a CD. The statue looks pretty good. Love some of the little detail. The drawer holds the Gotham Knight blu-ray. The box holds an art-book with pics/sketches from the game. It also holds the game disc - which is a bit crap. There's no separate case or wallet for the game which IMO is a bit of a let down.

In the artbook are some slips of paper - one allows you to play as catwoman, one gives you a free challenge map, one gives you the Dark Knight Returns skin and the last lets you download a music album.

Will update once I've played a bit more of the game, but very impressed by the opening!

SPOILERS

Loved the intro. Starting off as Bruce really brought things home for me. I never really appreciate that Bruce IS Batman. I don't mean the concealed identity but I'm talking about deeper down. Fighting as Bruce showed me that it was really Batman, and although I know Bruce is the alter-ego here, this seemed to drive it home for me. All of that training that he's done in the past....

Love how a lot of gadgets are already available at the beginning. I do feel the screen is more cluttered than B:AA. You have waypoint/direction indicator, some weird meter in the top left and I feel with some of the fluorescent/neon lighting, things can get confusing. The riddler's riddles are there but I seem to have difficulty with some of them. There are the ? encaged in metal. I managed to open one by flinging my Batarang at it but others seem impervious. There are also riddler hotspots which don't seem to do anything when you stand on them.

Love how Dent is portrayed so far. Loved meeting the Penguin though I still feel that glass eye is wrong. Catwoman is far more sexy than any of her onscreen portrayals!

Finished the main storyline yesterday, good plot and ending, though I'd already guessed half of it just by one character's comment. Mind you, that's obviously only cos I'm a big Batman geek ;)

Now stuck on one of the Riddler challenge rooms (it's probably something really obvious). What's bugging the fcuk out of me is the apparently random nature of saving my Riddler trophy/riddles progress - dying seems to reset everything you collected/spotted recently, as they reappear/reset in their original positions and you often don't get the saving indicator in the corner when you pick them up :( :?

Rocksteady doesn't rule out Batman: Arkham City campaign DLC (Nightwing challenge maps trailer)

That's a yes then. Question is, will it be worth buying? WB are properly milking this game and tbh I'm loathe to give them any more money

I'm debating what to do - spend this weekend playing Batman, or play Black Ops as it's double points weekend, so I can prestige and have some kind of bonus for MW3. I'm really hooked and driven, especially because I sat up last night watching Batman Returns on ITV despite having it on DVD.

What are they like compared to B:AA? I loved running around looking for the trophies in the last game, but from the looks of things it's more advanced than that. The save thing is worrying. Is there a manual save option so you can save after collecting each trophy?

I can see them milking it already, which is why I'm not spending any money on challenge maps etc. But if there's campaign DLC, I might be persuaded.

I've found the challenge rooms much more fun than the trophies tbh - there's that many trophies now it's dulled their impact somewhat. And there aren't many challenge rooms anyway :(

I wish they'd have made detective vision a bit better for scanning Riddler clues etc...

I'll be playing MW2 this weekend just to get back into the habbit, I might've actually bothered prestiging all those years ago if I'd known there would be an actual benefit to it!

EDIT - There isn't a manual save, far as I can see :(
