GTA IV - is it just me, or is this game a bit crap?

GTA IV is one of the numerous games I have gotten bored with and shelved, I'd be annoyed if I had paid full price for it. Was going for a tenner at Morrisons a several months ago.

Disconnected the ethernet cable just to be certain, and sure enough the game loads and plays a bit faster, but still crashes

Looks like it'll have to be a fresh install at some point :x

And a fresh install has did nothing to help, so I'm assuming it's a corrupt save file - I can't even pause the game when it actually is working, and it fcuks things up to the extent that you have to completely cut the power with the switch once it's in standby mode to get the machine to play anything afterwards :x :x :x

None of my other games do this  ; I honestly think this game wasn't tested properly going by the many others having problems around the net...

I might just give the game back to my mate, I've gotten about a quarter of the way through and I'm liking the game a lot more now when it actually works, but if it crashed or corrupted after using someone else's save file there's a damn good chance I'd launch the all-too-expensive controller at the PS3

I would've finished it if something wasn't wrong my save game, or something. Got another copy of it coming so I'll try that, but I don't see it making much difference...
