So I just bought it. I watched one of the survival tutorials and decided to give it a go. I've got my little lair built with a furnace and craft bench and been mining it for other resources (not found any yet other than coal) just put a door on my lair and it's raining outside with a couple of spiders crawling around so I've been working indoors Quite liking it so far One question. What are the green bars below where the hearts/food bar is? --- I am here: http://tapatalk.com/map.php?f2xisc

IIRC that's your experience bar. You gain experience by killing nasties and if you die it drops to zero. It's not much use to you at this point but later on you can build a sorcerer's workbench and use experience levels to 'buy' enchantments to put on equipment. Jon

Awesome game is awesome!
I started again on a new world once I knew what was going on.
I've now got a nice little cottage, a chicken coop and cow farm and a wheat, sugar cane and cactus farm! (Although I'm not sure if you can do anything with the cactus?)
I've got a full set of iron armour and having explored underground a bit I found a lava lake with a LOAD of iron and coal deposits around it!
Why have I not played this earlier?

Makes quite a good barbed wire substitute. Any nasties that try to get you through it get damaged by it. Jon

LOL! OK, just got VERY lost!
I went exploring and found a few caves. Spent the night there digging my way down and uncovering further caves...
Came outside again... not a clue where I was! I spent the night outdoors fighting off mobs and running away from Endermen and eventually managed to find my house as the sun was setting on the second day!
I actually can't believe how big the map is though! There are at least 7 different climate regions. I'm in a jungle/rainforest bit, then there's desert, snowy, marshland, mountainous, beaches, flat grassland, etc...
Unbelievable!

and not forgetting "hell" underground, have you found any abandoned mineshafts yet? with remains of railtracks and wooden platform beams? also did you change your player skin? mine is a replica of a creeper so when I play online I sneak up behind people and start jumping, some fall for it and panic

this is undoubtedly the most important part of the game, and can be done is any image editor that outputs in .png format. I hand-made mine and my girlfriends skins: i am a Blue Spy from Team Fortress 2, and she is Donatello from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles using this image should give you a good start in knowing how the skins fit together in a 2D image file P.S. oli, with regards to your getting lost problem: this map is infinite, and will generate as you walk. getting lost really does mean getting lost if you walk too far from your house without a map

I think I read somewhere the largest possible map size you can have isn't in fact infinite but it is roughly the same surface area as Jupiter . Jon

Minecraft iPhone version has just been updated with a furnace so now you can smelt ore and create pretty much everything that's in the full game!

Got bored with the mobile version. Is there anything fun underground yet? I like cavern exploring. It's not just what you find down there, the sheer scale of it all is glorious. The main reason I have farms and factories is so that I can tool up, pack plenty of grub and get mining!

From when I first went on the mobile version it has improved a lot. You can now do crafting (crafting table was added a few months ago and just the other day the furnace was added). It also now has survival mode (previously it was just creative) and it has critters and mobs. Not sure which mobs as I haven't played the current version much but I've definitely seen zombies. The map does seem very small though. Granted it's a mobile version I still thought it would be much bigger.

Yeah plenty of zombies but not seen anything else. I guess having to fit into a small amount of memory is quite limiting on map size. The entire mobile world would fit a hundred times over in some of the caverns I've been in I do like the controls though, very easy to use. Always a challenge on a touch screen.
