LucasArts has admitted that its development team wasn't quite "up to speed" on PS3 in the past - particularly when creating Star Wars: The Force Unleashed.

The revelation might go some way to explaining why the third-person action game was better received on Xbox 360 - with CVG sister mag PSM3 handing out a stinging 59% score to the PlayStation version.

However, the developer told CVG that it has now straightened out its issues with the hardware - and is happily developing the 360 and PS3 versions of The Force Unleashed 2 alongside each other.

"For me I think I like putting builds on the 360, it's a lot faster," said LucasArts producer Cameron Suey.

"There were times, especially on the original Force Unleashed, where on the PS3, we weren't quite up to speed. But now I think [360 and PS3 are] so hand in hand that every change we make is tested on both at the same time, side-by-side throughout the whole thing."

CVG got hands-on with the second in the series earlier this year - and were optimistic about what we played.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2 is due for release on Xbox 360, PS3, PC, Wii and DS in late October.

...

I suspect you'd have been lied to at the time though...

If that is supposed to entice buyers to rush out and buy it before they get home and realise it might be another turkey is taking a chance. After a bad release the public might be waiting for a review or to see the game in action in a store.
