Just got an email (well on New Year's Day) saying... "Dear Cecilia, We are contacting you to confirm the account <my account name> has successfully been merged into the battle.net account k***@hotmail.com." Just holding on the phone now to speak to them. I haven't played WoW in a while but I hope my chars are still in tact. (Fingers crossed)

Cool, created a battle.net account for me and they transferred my blizzard account into it. Thankfully there was no play time on my account so everything should still be there. Cool cool

I got one of those emails but I chose to ignore it. Mainly as I have never ever had a Battle.net account. So I knew it was a junk email.

I have never had a battle.net account either. That was not the issue. The issue is that just over a year ago Battle.net took over from WoW and all the other blizzard accounts. In this case my old WoW account had been merged into someone else's battle.net account. You may not be bothered but I think you'll find your old gaming account unplayable and it will prob have no chars or items in it.

Well heres hoping you get back your account. In my case I havent ever played WoW. The last proper MMORPG I played was Ultima online in 1999/2000 or had any Blizzard account. So just make sure your ringing the right people! There might be some sneaky barstewards trying it on with fake/scam emails.

My girlfriend got one of these too, but she's never played a Blizzard game...

I thought it might be a dodgy thing so I went to the actual blizzard and battle.net websites to get a contact number from there.
The guy on the phone initially thought it might be a phishing email but after further investigation he discovered it wasn't.
I'm guessing that this kind of account is phished quite regularly.

I got spammed too saying "your registered email address has been changed to k***@hotmail.com. Please logon to your account to confirm" or something of this nature. Basically they're fishing for account details as if I follow the link I get an official Battle.net looking page which asks for my email address and password.

When I went onto Facebook last night the system gave me a warning that someone in the USA had logged into my account - it even gave me a map of the location.
I changed my password (and passwords of other services with the same details) and logged back in but it did spook me.
I checked that "I" hadn't posted anything dodgy, or sent any private messages, and I hadn't so I don't really know what it was all about to be honest.

I had that happen about two weeks ago, somewhere in Florida iirc.
