Gearbox Software boss Randy Pitchford has reportedly said that Aliens: Colonial Marines won't be released in 2011.

Pitchford delivered the disappointing news during an interview featured in the latest issue of EGM, according to a NeoGAF poster.

Back at PAX in September, Pitchford reassured fans that the developer hadn't forgotten about its Aliens game, even showing off some fresh images to prove it.

And just last month, Alan Pritchard, Sega West's VP of marketing and sales, said the publisher has "been working closely with Gearbox behind the scenes, and we'll be able to tell you a lot about that in the next couple of months".

We've asked Sega for comment on this report.

...

After the AvP multiplayer fcuk-up, I haven't got much faith in Sega right now...

Apparently Pitchford never said anything of the like:

And whilst i have no faith in Sega, i do have faith in Gearbox, especially after Borderlands.

No no, I definitely meant cel-shaded abortion. ;) I bought it on the recommendation of several friends, if only I could turn back time...
