Sony's issued a statement following the release of a homebrew application that allegedly allows PS3 jailbreak users to fraudulently unlock Trophies.

A company spokesperson told CVG it's looking into the development and will look to fix issues for hacking in general via network updates.

"We are aware of this, and are currently looking into it," an SCEE spokesperson told CVG. "We will fix the issues through network updates, but because this is a security issue, we are not able to provide you with any more details."

The homebrew application allegedly allowing PS3 users who have modified their console to unlock all Trophies in a PS3 title instantly and automatically, with random timestamps.

It's the latest development following news that PlayStation 3 had been hacked completely and, allegedly, irreversibly by George 'Geohot' Hotz at the beginning of the month.

Shiny shiny! ;)

The funniest thing I've seen is the COD users who lose everything they've built up over hours of gameplay, pretty much just to get a 'prestige' symbol next to their name. A symbol that doesn't prove sh1t anyway - you could just be the sort of person who perseveres without actually being any good

In MW2, when prestiging, you lost some achievements but retained others and hence could still work your way through overall achievements. In BlackOps, you seem to lose everything and gain nothing.

I dont buy into achievements, trophies or anything else. They're utterly worthless and if grinding for them can actually take away the enjoyment of the game IMO.

A guy at work boasted how his score was much higher than mine yet everytime we raced on Forza he was [LIFTED]. He simply plays and plays until he has earned everything.

I also cant abide people who play crap games on the basis they can be completed for gamer score / trophies. It's sad.

I have done this for a competition, all chip in £1 to pay for a 2100 point card, highest increase over 30 days wins

Saying that I play for enjoyment, I don't play online much and when I do it's for fun, not to unlock achievements
