Has anyone ever played Myst?

If so did you get very far?

I've been playing on my iPhone (well I haven't played it for ages until tonight) and I'm finally up to the bit I was stuck on some 15 years ago.

I've just gained access to an underground facility by way of a sound coded door. I can now enter some sort of monorail device and control where it goes (forward, backward, left, right) but last time I was in there I got lost and never found a way out.

Can anyone point me in the right direction (so to speak) without actually telling me what to do.

I'm guessing I'm missing some sort of map or guide through the underground rail system?

Thanks!

If it's a labyrinth then always turn left (or right), amazing.

+1, this is guaranteed to get out out. However, be aware that some mazes are designed so that such a strategy takes bloody forever.

Listen to the noises at each junction. Each corresponds to a direction to go. The assignment of which noise =which direction is left as an excercise to the student.

(This meansI can't recall how I worked it out. There is a clue somewhere)

Cool!

I managed to get through the maze. Had to map out the rooms as I went though.

Also, the directions/sounds are used elsewhere. In the mechanical world (at least I think it is) the house rotates and makes the sound of the direction each time it stops.

Never noticed that before (although I may have been playing on a PC with no speakers)

OMG - 640x480 256 colours on a 486

One of my mates lent it to his brother who got so frustrated that he phoned up one time at 3am, waking the baby and everyone else, desperately wanting a clue!
