LINK (Guru3D)

unsure of the source for this, Guru3D cites a forum member but that could be anyone really. anyway, posting this in case anyone is interested :)

Graphics:
Custom AMD RV770 Chip “WOLF” @ 766Mhz on 32nm process
1398 Gflops <- according to Wikipedia, this puts it just above the Radeon HD4890 in terms of compute power

CPU:
Custom IBM Power 6 Chip “FOX” on 32nm process
4 cores, each two way SMT-capable and clocked at 3.5 GHz
175.9 GFLOPS theoretical peak performance (single-precision) <- cant find any concrete comparison numbers for this, but my Core2 e8400 @ 4GHz gets 26GFLOPS in IntelBurnTest
87.6 GFLOPS theoretical peak performance (double-precision)

Memory:
512 MB XDR2 DRAM main memory
+ 1024 GDDR5 video memory <- comparable to brand new midrange cards, such as the GTX560 Ti and some HD 6950 variants
+ 16 MB eDRAM

Storage:
2.5-inch SATA hard drive with 250 GB / 320 GB capacity
Expanded storage via SD and SDHC card memory (up to 64 GB)

Media:
Custom Blu-ray Disc, up to 50 GB
Compatible with 7 cm Nintendo GameCube Game Disc and 12 cm Wii Optical Disc <- could possibly render older games at higher resolutions?

Display:
Video output formats
Composite video: 480i, 576i (PAL)
S-Video: 480i, 576i (PAL)
RGB SCART: 480i, 576i (PAL)
Component (YPBPR): 480i, 576i (PAL), 480p, 576p, 720p, 1080i, 1080p
D-Terminal: 480i (D1), 480p (D2), 720p (D4), 1080i (D3), 1080p (D5)
HDMI: 480p, 576p, 720p, 1080i, 1080p

If any of that is true it sounds like a good machine and might force MS/Sony into something. Looking at the spec sheet I imagine it's going to cost a lot more than the Wii mind you.

I can see these as being true.

Remember they are in competition with the next gen consoles not the 360 or the ps3.

I also think the next gen Sony and Microsoft machines will be significantly better specced than this.

it shouldnt be massively expensive, by the sounds of things theyve just slapped in a die-shrunk version of an off-the-shelf GPU, which should cut R&D costs loads. the CPU isnt particularly outlandish either (though sounds pretty close to current Core i7 CPUs, 4HT cores@3.5GHz), so it probably wont be as ridiculously priced as the PS3 when that launched.

maybe not, it has been said that theses are still a fair way off yet. if Nintendo can get this out quickly, it ought to cause a lot of problems for the 360/PS3.

Some specs now out officially......

Size: Approximately 1.8 inches tall, 6.8 inches wide and 10.5 inches long.

New Controller: The new controller incorporates a 6.2-inch, 16:9 touch screen and traditional button controls, including two analogue Circle Pads. This combination removes the traditional barriers between games, players and the TV by creating a second window into the
video game world.

The rechargeable controller includes a Power button, Home button, +Control Pad, A/B/X/Y buttons, L/R buttons and ZL/ZR buttons. It includes a built-in accelerometer and gyroscope, rumble feature, camera, a microphone, stereo speakers, a sensor strip and a stylus.

Other Controls: Up to four Wii Remote (or Wii Remote Plus) controllers can be connected at once.

The new console supports all Wii controllers and input devices, including the Nunchuk controller, Classic Controller, Classic Controller Pro and Wii Balance
Board.

Media: A single self-loading media bay will play 12-centimeter proprietary high-density
optical discs for the new console, as well as 12-centimeter Wii optical discs.

Video Output: Supports 1080p, 1080i, 720p, 480p and 480i. Compatible cables include HDMI, component, S-video and composite.

Audio Output: Uses AV Multi Out connector. Six-channel PCM linear output through HDMI.

Storage: The console will have internal flash memory, as well as the option to expand its memory using either an SD memory card or an external USB hard disk drive.

CPU: IBM Power-based multi-core microprocessor.

Other: Four USB 2.0 connector slots are included. The new console is backward compatible with Wii games and Wii accessories.
Note: Details are subject to change.

Confirmed games
Assassin's Creed
Darksiders II
Ghost Recon
Dirt
Aliens: Colonial Marines
Metro II
Batman: Arkham City

Prototypes/Yet to be confirmed
Battlefield
New Super Mario Bros Mii

With the planned games (unless they're dumbed down versions) I expect it's going to be at least as powerful as the current gen consoles. The "IBM multi-core CPU" could hint at that.

In other news I seriously cannot see that being good to hold, especially for extended gaming sessions.

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.
