The T-Rex got me too. In the original AvP I also wasted about half a clip of ammo. every time a steam pipe burst. In Half-Life 2 when that strider came crashing through the wall after the battle in the city square. Oh, and the whole Ravenholm section TBH. The Big Daddies from Bioshock. And who can forget our friend Alma?

In all honesty, I can't remember. I remember being scared when playing Doom but can't recall why. I was genuinely scared when playing EF2000 by DiD. There's one mission where I had to bomb something but there were SAM and MANPADs around. Frikking scary when flying over SAM territory and [LIFTED] myself (not literally) when one detected me! |

Easy one this... Descent - combine laser- & missile-spewing evil mutated robots, excellent graphics, pant-wetting level design and six degrees of freedom. The worst bit was always trying to get the exit after destroying the reactor. I had nightmares for months.

Both of these would feature in a "What have been your most nerve racking gaming moments?" thread. As would the flashlight/gun/flashlight/gun moments of Doom3, the unexpected headcrab attacks-from-nowhere in HL:2, and the "schlock" moments from F.E.A.R - but I wouldn't have said any were particularly scary in a "oh dear god I've got to put this down I'm actually frightened" kind of way. That said, I can't think of what would count.

Nah Descent and Descent 2 weren't scary at all IMO. Great fun. Loved the fact that you could move in any direction. |

I was scared in a "I need a break every 15 minutes, I won't play in the dark and when I look at it in 17 years' time I'll still feel utter dread" kind of way. |

The zombies in Quake actually gave me nightmares. It was the way they wouldn't stay down. They just seemed so relentless; until I finally realised you just had to blow their heads off with a shot gun. These days, believe it or not I've had nightmares about the suicide shrubs in Minecraft. Going into my kitchen at night, there is far too much glass and no where near enough giant cacti or torches outside

I remember playing Redneck Rampage which had a red tint to everything. It was set in some hick town of America. I recall it being very eery. Another game was Dare2Dream. Again, not scary but definitely creepy. |

I recall the bits in Max Payne where you're walking the line of dripping blood accompanied by the sound of a baby crying... they weren't nice. Mind you I had been inhaling. |
