I have run this on an android 7inch tablet tablet. I found it didn't really work unfortunately. Either zoom in enough to be able to play the game(ie build roads and tracks), or zoom out to see the overview and where you are building too. Just too frustrating.
If they can do it however I would give it a try. Wouldn't buy until i was sure it was playable.

I wonder how many more older great games make the transition to mobile?

I used to love transport tycoon incl its synthesiser music. Needs updating for the modern world though.
