At least they bothered with a SP component I spose... I can totally wait for the GOTY edition of this.

By the time that's due things might have moved on to the PS4...

Having said that, announcing DLC for a multiplayer component you have said literally nothing about seems to me to be a great way to blow customer goodwill.

Tried it last night, crashed twice before I got to the main menu. Put it on the shelf and gone back to a few other things until they patch it.

That might be a new low even for gaming's treatment of customers. There's glitches and bugs being reported everywhere for it, way beyond the autosave thing and the usual amount of reports games bring these days. I can't help wondering if it's 'unusual' release date made it a rush job.

Quite a few people I know who have it say it really kicks up the fans on their PS3's. I suspect it's pushing things very hard. Not that that excuses it if it is really glitchy, but I suspect it may be exposing faults in a fewer older creaky PS3's by overstressing things like the cooling system. There was always a claim with the 360 that Halo games were crash-prone or even were killing consoles but in fact it was just people switching on 360's that hadn't been used in a while, which was causing things like disk heads sticking...

I did wonder about that sort of effect, you always see people mentioning it every time a new super-buggy CoD gets released.

My PS3 is ridiculously loud when I put a DVD in and it's more than the noise that bothers me...

My old 40GB PS3 would rattle and whine away when at full pelt. Soon enough it got the YLOD and I've since got for a superslim which has been much much quieter.

Funny, but it's an 18-rated game isn't it? FFS.
