I remember Megadrive and PS1 games at £50, but that was long before gaming had the numbers it does now. Game prices drop within two weeks almost no matter what the game is.

Two weeks eh? That must be how quickly many finish the games and sell them back into the market?

Yes but small drops like that might be down to Asda taking a smaller margin, also less chance of them getting left with stock. I cannot remember prices like you can, so have a rough idea of whether to buy the game and work out how much I will be willing to pay. For a lot of games it is below £20 so usually wait ages for the prices to drop.

The point is it's money off a licensed game before it's even two weeks old, about £5-8 cheaper than buying in-store and £3-4 online, with free delivery n'all. It forces other online retailers' hands for the reasons you mentioned, and especially when it comes to a game that's likely to 'go under the radar'.

Yes competition between retailers is good. Though how long before they get to half price?

Again, depends on the game, but often you can expect at least a tenner off within a month for even the biggest titles. Though it's worth remembering we're at the end of a cycle too... Something like God of War ('big' Sony game) eventually rests at £15, usually. And that's a game with free PS+ time and an added Last of Us demo unavailable on the store.
