The basic plan is sensible. A few good games should be decent money makers, though if they are buggy then they become a liability. Users do not mind long waits between releases if the games are good.

If they are concentrating on a few ames, and if those are buggy at release, then they will have more resources to ensure that the 1.01 release is of a much higher quality. As you are no doubt aware, software releases are rarely dictated to by the engineers (who would want to release when the software is perfect), but is done so by the marketing people who will have all kinds of pressures on them - most notably small release windows. In this case, the slot before Christmas.

I would imagine that as long as they can update quickly after a problem then it does not matter. Through from what I have read about Microsofts cost to check updates it does mean that the risk of more problems not being fixed increase. I totally appreciate the need to be released in time for a big selling period like Christmas or even Black Friday in the US does make a huge difference to how buggy the program is.
