Lol, do you remember when mobile games were gonna slay consoles?

Heh. I d/led the one that's being showcased on the Apple app store this week - 'Nono Island' I think it's called. Looks and sounds quite good in a cute cartoony way. I give the tutorial a go and it turns out to be a fairly basic 'runner' - you go along a path and swipe to change direction, there are tokens of various sorts to pick up along the way and you occasionally have to time things so you don't get eaten by a shark or whatever.

I finished the tutorial level and got to the first level proper. Got about half way through and fell off the path. A dialog pops up saying 'buy a token to start from here or start at the beginning again'. And yes folks, that is actually BUY a token, for 99p. 99p to have a proper restart point. Each time. Or have infinite restart points for only £10.99! In a game whose gameplay pretty much boils down to 'swipe the screen one of three ways at a given moment'.
