I would, but the cost of the console is still too high for me to justify getting one just yet, but I would only bet it for the exclusives as I think the 360 has a better and more comfortable controller

Really? I'm tempted to go the other way and buy a 360. Some of the deals are very good.

But then I pinch myself and realise that I hardly play games as it is (Arkham Asylum, an awesome game that I enjoyed every moment of took me a month to complete because I coudn't play it more often).

I can understand it. I know from bitter experience it is hard to get your inevitable RROD fixed over the xmas period.

As for the price, the PS3 is very well priced compared to the 360, especially given the cost of the 360's extras that you need to buy - play & charge kit, scandelous £50 wifi adaptor and hard drives that do their best to rival SSD's for cost per gigabyte. Plus the PS3 arguably has better exclusives.

You forgot not having to pay to play games online, for that very reason I would never buy an xbox and if the PS3,4,5,6,7etc ever do it I won't buy that either.

Plus the PS3 is pretty damned solid as a BR player, can't get better for sub £200 IMHO>

Got one running at 1080P on a 46" Panasonic plasma and 1080P on a 42" LG LCD, great on both. I'm not denying that there are better ones out there but not in general retail stores, would have to head out to richer sounds etc or online and then your probably looking £300 plus.

That and its simple to let the PS3 and as such its blu-ray profile auto update; and for those of us without media centre PC's the iplayer is handy :)

But, in the 360's favour, u dont need the wifi adapter (im using a bridged connection through a ethernet crossover cable going into my pc).

Its wildly cheaper (especially if you buy the core and then get some chrap accesory bundle).

Live is like £28 per year...

The PS3 has an ethernet connection of its own. :? Mine goes straight into the router.

Assuming you use Live for 5 years, congratulations you've just added £140 to the price of your console. Is it still cheap?

First of all, paying for online gaming when everyone else isn't must suck, however...

There were remarks again from Sony recently that online gaming might have to be paid for, but that would be an incredibly stupid move considering they're only beginning to catch up with the 360's sales... Oh, wait, this is Sony we're talking about

Having used PSN on my friends PS3 the 360 service is miles ahead

and for 3 years I paid less than £50, and I'm not paying £35+ for an additional controller which is of inferior quality

That said, the chance of a 360 lasting for 5 years or a customer putting up with the endless failures for 5 years is a little unlikely.

Having read some of the stories about Sony charging, it looks like the writer, especially on the CVG article drew his own conclusions and Sony actually said nothing of the sort.

When I had mine it was £35 a year with a card from Amazon. I don't know how you got it cheaper, besides maybe thanks to working for MS...who knows.

As for inferior quality? What?

Nope, german site was selling 1 year cards for £16

Inferior controller as the triggers are counter intuitive, no feel of real build quality, no vibrate in the original controller, controller is too light.

Inferior quality in general due to lack of support from proper developers, inferior games (yes even if you can fit 25gb of data on a disc why is nearly EVERY PS3 version of a multiplatform game inferior to the 360 in texture quality, draw distance etc??) lack of developer support due to expensive software development kit and dev console units and poor or overly complicated APIs which hinder 3rd parties getting the best out of the system. This is knowing a lot of devs who have done multi platform submissions on both consoles and the actual system is more for entertainment than gaming.

Despite this, and the UI 'issues' in continuity in turning off the console I will eventually get one for the first party titles such as GT5 and God of War 3 because the First party titles are very good.
