hi guys

as you may know, there was a patch for battlefield 2 released in september, but i only just got round to installing it :D it most notably contains an few bugs fixes,
vehicle balances, a few anti-cheating measures, new maps, and the booster packs (forget what they are called) for free. it also contains official widescreen support, so no need for esoteric hacks to play in 16:10 any more :) full change log here

official download links here patch 1.41 is required the install 1.5, and yes that is another 400megs

so, are you using the patch? what are you experiences with it? any new bugs/undocumented features that have been added? would you like to grumble that 2GB is bloody huge and will take 3 days to DL over your internet connection? or perhaps you have a server and would like to invite us all to play on it :D

Just finished installing it - had a bit of trouble with the official links, but I managed to find it on Fileplanet and got the whole thing down in 2-3 hours. Will be giving it a go today.

It's an example of how good PC gaming can be. It was a successful game when it was released, it has stood the test of time and the enormity of this patch is unprecedented. Nice one EA/Dice, put me down for a copy of Bad Company 2.

Would Infinity ward put out a 2gb patch full of free content 4 years after M****n W*****e 2? Not a chance.

i wouldnt say that, it still suffers tremendously from grenade spamming, and dolphin diving is rife, even after the patch :(

still better than MW2 though, nothing like 64 player karkand on a 32 player map

i havent seen much of BC2, will check it out on gametrailers now :)

Never got on with Battlefield 2. Much preferred 2142.

I like them both, but I was with BT broadband for ages, so I spent most of my time respawning due to sky-high pings and a painfully slow connection.

Tried the patch, although I haven't been on a new map yet, it's still fun and I do enjoy a good snipe from a tall building from time to time.

I did Battlefield 1942, Vietnam, 2, 2142, Bad Company and 1943 (last 2 on Xbox). I went back to 2 not that long back but found it very laggy (whilst everything else played fine) and I'm sure everyone was cheating. I do miss it though. Bad Company was great online and once BC2 comes out I might just abandon MW2!

Battlefield Vietnam was brilliant! A shame no-one really played it though :(.

Many, many hours were wasted in the library at college playing BF: Vietnam over a laptop LAN. :D
