Its a sad day when a Crysis game makes it onto a console. Fortunately at least the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. franchise is still PC only.

Meh, Crysis has the feel of a console game right from its first iteration.

Bring back Command and Conquer (1).

Apart from fancy gfx I didnt see what Crysis did on the PC that any other FPS did on any format.

That's exactly it, it pushed the PC of the time to its limit, used fancy graphics tricks to wow the player. It also let you prone and if I'm not mistaken - lean, unlike the lazy console ports from infinity ward.

Now we just get endless cross-platform games using Unreal 3 and it is getting really boring.

I don't recall lean being in the game.

Just because a game uses the Unreal engine doesn't mean it's bad:
Bioshock
Arkham Asylum
Borderlands
Mass Effect 2
Mirror's Edge

It's the same as any game engine, some of the games using it will be good. It's good for developers as they can judge what they can and cannot make, removes some of the complexity in development that Epic initially take the hit on with the low level code and can be used in a lot of different kind of games, FPS, RTS, 3rd person etc.

It was to illustrate the range of titles that have sold well :P

Mirror's Edge was quite good anyway, I enjoyed it and I didn't really like Bioshock, mainly because of the fake consequences in the game

Crytek executive producer Nathan Camarillo has suggested that the company would like to release a PS3 demo of Crysis 2, but he wouldn't outright confirm any such plans.

Speaking to PSU, he said PS3 gamers "can probably hope for one".

"We want as many people to play Crysis 2 as possible," he added. "I can't say anything too specific ... we haven't announced [the demo] yet."

Camarillo went on to say there'd be no difference in quality between the PS3 version of Crysis 2 and the Xbox 360 one, which has seen a pre-release demo.

"People can try to find [disparities], but they won't find anything. They both run great, they both play great whether you're playing single-player or multiplayer - they're identical offerings. The quality is outstanding on both of them; there's really no difference."

Crytek's to launch a PC demo of Crysis 2 on March 1.

No co-op for Crysis 2 - but a 'beefy' campaign is promised

Crytek has confirmed to CVG that Crysis 2 will not feature co-op play, but claimed that a "beefy" campaign will help make it a must-buy for FPS fans.

The gorgeous-looking shooter is released in March - a month after Killzone 3 and Bulletstorm hit shelves this week.

Crytek boss Cevat Yerli told CVG in a new interview - in which his doffs his cap to rivals People Can Fly and Guerilla - that "dethroning Call Of Duty" is not the studio's No.1 priority.

"No, we won't be offering co-op," revealed Yerli, adding: "Our goal is to offer quite a beefy package and I think some people will be surprised at how big it is, but I don't want to talk too much about it because I'd rather they wait and play."

Discussing the competition, Yerli commented: "We're not trying to dethrone anybody or make the next Call of Duty or Halo, we're trying to make a Crysis that hits the gamer's nerve and makes them think 'this is the most intense shooter I've played', 'I've played as I wanted to since the Nanosuit allowed me to be what I wanted to be' and 'it tells an awesome story'.

"That's what it's about for me, and if we hit those nerves I believe there's no reason why Crysis 2 can't be the No.1 title, but its intent and purpose isn't to dethrone Call of Duty."

Crysis 2 is due for release on 360, PS3 and PC on March 22 in the US and three days later in the UK.

No co-op = no buy. Pity. I have friends in the real world who come to my house.

And so I'll stick to (the quite simply awesome, albeit not fautless) Borderlands for now.

Interested in playing the Killzone 3 demo (if there's one?) but was totally unimpressed with the Bulletstorm demo...

I liked the online co-op in MW2 :)

Yeah, downloaded the KZ3 demo but have yet to try it, Bulletstorm was far too 'technical' for a FPS IMO...

That's my point though; we're sitting around my lounge, someone asks "quick run around?" and we fire it up till we agree enough's enough. I simply don't care for online play.

so there is one? Oh I'm so getting off the PC as soon as I've posted this...

It just played like a game-on-rails set of scripted routines - sure the demo might have been a "technical demo" (if that's what you mean?) but that's certainly not how I'd have tried to sell a game... it just felt so very "meh" - a lot like Enslaved did. Pretty, with lots of promise. But too gimicky. And I'm not inclined to gamble my money on games.

I only got into online play recently, and only with CoD MP in it's various forms.

I meant 'technical' in terms of the gimicky feel you mentioned - just not fun for me personally. The Enslaved demo has made me think 'I'll wait 'til it's a fiver second-hand'
