I picked up the first two DMC games recently, but I'm playing Black over again (still surprised at how good it is). Bayonetta just looks mental to me, and I don't mean in a good way , but it's hard to tell what to expect from trailers that seem to have been edited by someone on speed

Never played the first two games in the series unfortunately (never had a PS2 ). However have completed both the 3rd and 4th games. The latter of which i still play regularly to try beat my own score and the harder difficulties. The former doesn't run very well on my laptop i have at uni so don't play it as often (atlhough have still completed it). Bayonetta just looks typically Devil May Cry to me although it does seem slightly faster paced (i think only because the weapons are faster). It's probably one of my most anticipated games of the year and something i can't wait to see more of .

Little bump on an old thread: Bayonetta gets 40/40 from Famitsu (very well respected games magazine in Japan) clickyLooks like it will be immense , i tried the demo on XBL using a Japanese account and it was rather good. The action is very fast paced and sometimes hard to follow but it's also easy to pick up whilst being hard to master. Definitely a first day buy for me .

Opps, forgot to thank you for that PM about the special edition stuff pcernie , had seen it earlier in the day but it's nice to know that i don't have to cancel my pre-order from game. + I wonder whether or not the demo will be the same one released in Japan... it was rather strange since the 360 and PS3 demos were different containing one level which was the same and a level specific for that console. Either way it was amazingly fun to play . + It's looking very good since Famitsu gave it 40/40 and Edge gave it a 10/10, both of which are stupidly rare scores to say the least.

Thread Bump Anyone actually get the game? I completed it last week and have to say it's pretty much awesome if you're into the whole Action/Adventure genre. That said, it's different to something like Arkham Asylum however, that was a game which had very good storytelling and atmosphere recreating something that we all "know" but haven't necessarily experienced. The combat for it however was "deep" in a sense that it was easy to pick up but rather hard to perfect on the challenge modes, in the actual game however i never had a problem with any of the "goons". Also the problem with Arkham Asylum was that it even appealed to people who weren't fans of the genre just because it was Batman done well. Bayonetta on the other hand is over-the-top in true japanese style and i really don't expect many people to necessarily understand it. It doesn't have as good storytelling as Arkham Asylum and the atmosphere it generates is obviously different seeing as it's a new IP, however, graphical quality and animation are seemless and there's a great blend between it and the soundtrack (which again is of Japanese nature so to westerners i guess it would be of questionable quality). The one thing that Bayonetta does excel in is the combat however, i called Arkham Asylum's combat "deep" but ultimately it was still the simple press X to punch and Y to counter. Bayonetta takes that principle, adds in a plethora of new combos and also weapons which ultimately imo makes it the best combat system i've probably played. Ultimately i'd say that if you're a fan of the genre and particularly liked either the Devil May Cry series or Ninja Gaiden which focus on combat mechanics then Bayonetta is a must buy. If you're more inclined towards the Prince of Persia or Arkham Asylum which focus more on storytelling and platforming then i'd say check it out because it's still a great game, but it's of a different style.

I only played the demo of this but it's certainly impressive, just not the sort of game I'm any good at because of the controls I have to say though, from what I played and the vids I've seen, the lead character leaves me cold... as noted above, this might be because it's Japanese-centric
