Anyone getting this? I heard a lot of people who were boycotting MW2 to be interested in this after DICE announced they were still keeping dedicated servers... guess they got shafted slightly (there are dedicated servers, but they're only rental ones). Also, how many people are playing the beta? You can get it by either preordering from Steam or Play. Gameplay wise it's very good, i never played BF2, but compared to BF2142 it's a lot more polished and refined. The rush game mode really gives a sense of progression unlike MW2. Overall i can see this being very popular online, especially for the BF veterans.

My response is "meh". I'm more interested in BF2142, and I haven't even played that since ST:O opened the beta.

I'm looking forward to it, but can't afford it this month - will have to be March now.

100% getiting this. Its not like BF2/2142 (well the first BF:BC wasnt) and is more fun and 'action-ey'. I love the fact that if a sniper is camping in a building roof pissing you off you can jump in a tank or grab a rocket launcher and just blow the crap out of his hidey hole.

Being used to CoD, i'm not so much of a building sniper and generally prefer finding bushes outdoors to try camoflauge in (you have a ghillie suit). However i do love it where my friend spotted out a sniper in a this tiny attic window, i turned to snipe him, one tank shell later the tiny window is now a large hole in the side of the roof. He tentatively moves out to scope up and i nail him . I'd say that overall the game is still very much "Battlefield" although it's heavily streamlined... i miss the lack of a commo rose but that's not too big a loss.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 demo hits PS3 | | | | Quote: DICE has said that PlayStation 3 gamers will be able to get in on the Battlefield: Bad Company 2 demo fun from February 4.
Here's the word:
STOCKHOLM, Feb 03, 2010 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- DICE, an Electronic Arts Inc. studio (NASDAQ:ERTS), today announced that the PlayStation(R)3 computer entertainment system players in North America will now have access to the Battlefield: Bad Company(TM) 2 demo* on February 4.
Available via the PlayStation(R)Network, Battlefield: Bad Company 2 has been recognized by critics worldwide for its incredibly detailed, huge sandbox environments, vehicular warfare, destruction, and squad play. Its dedicated servers that allow for smooth, seamless online play help it stand above the competition.
The Battlefield: Bad Company 2 demo features Port Valdez, a new vehicle focused map where up to 24 players can compete against each other in the game's Rush multiplayer mode. Players have access to five land and three air vehicles including Main Battle Tanks as well as the fast-moving Quad Bikes and Mobile Armored AA.
The fight is also packed with plenty of infantry combat fought alongside the waterline towards a great oil industrial landscape in the Alaskan mountains.
Battlefield: Bad Company 2 will be in stores on March 2, 2010 in North America and March 4, 2010 in Europe for the Xbox 360(R) videogame and entertainment system, PlayStation 3 and the PC. | | | | |

Have pre-ordered this and am loving the beta, even though its just one map over and over it doesnt seem to get old. When the full game is out with different game types and a proper map rotation i can see this keeping my FPS multiplayer needs dealt with for a good while.
The thing that has me absolutely hooked on this is the "atmosphere". Of course all the graphics are maxxed out (had to revert to DX9 as there is an input issue while using DX10 +, random running), it looks purdy and the destruction of buildings etc is brilliantly implemented but the most impressive thing for me is the sounds!! it has to be heard to be believed. With a good set of speakers / headphones if the mrs is in this game has me ducking bullets in my seat. The most utterly absorbing use of sound i have had in a long time, a game which has me question my soundcards are pointless philosophy.
Have played MW2 since launch and tired of it quite quickly, infact i blame MW2 for costing me the price of DAO and Mass Effect 2 to keep me occupied until something like BC2 came along.

im quite excited by this, due to the fact i am pretty oblivious to anything im not pointing my gun at in most games, the large number of squad-based multiplayer modes has intrigued me. im going to wait until it gets a few reviews out before buying, but i will probably pick it up shortly after launch that and i like the graphics + destructible buildings, though they will make sniping tricky, as has been mentioned

I been playing the Beta since it can out
The world you play in great almost everything can be blow up and distroyed - there no hiding place
at the end of the game where there is heavy fighting the place looks like no mans land of WWI and when the next attack come in it like help!!!
A lot of people are play it like it MW2 which is not and it ment to squad base you you keep your squad members alive and work as a team
Did I say the graphcs are great and sound really good.....when there bombs etc going off the grounds shakes etc so hard to stand up
there only two forms a shoting - standing up or kneeling can not laydown - unless you died
The beta is strange not sure what will happen with the real game:
you get no health bars on yourself only as medic you can see your teams health
easy to run out of amo but you can get upgraded/unlocks
There is no flags but points that you blow up and then that turn into the resporn point for the attacing team and the next set of points that need blowing up is shown
no tea, score is displayed so you never know how winning etc
call - short orders - in BF2 it was Q & E thats turn off
no comander
also PB is being used it loaded but turn off in the beta

Health is regenerating so there's technically no need for health bars... Medic's get shown it so they know who needs a health crate the most (faster health regen). The only time i've run out of ammo is with the Sniper and even that's after a long session of sniping. The pistols are slightly lacking though... especially since it takes me a clip per enemy. I usually die after taking out more than 4 enemies in a row though lol. + It's what they assault class is for with his ammo crate... That's the whole point of the "Rush" game mode, there'll still be conquest in the full game but they decided this mode was best to show off the game (and i agree)... there's a good sense of progression each time you move to a new area, unlike Titan or Conquest mode where you go back and forth between capture points. It's closest to the Assault Lines (?) mode from 2142, which was like Conquest but you only fought over one position at a time (similar to Day of Defeat i guess) and they lock after capture. Actually, the Attackers win by destroying all 8 bomb sites (there are 4 different locations) and the Defenders win by reducing the Attacker's tickets to 0. The Attacker's get extra tickets after progressing to a new area, not sure how many... somewhere between 30-50? Meanwhile, the Defender's have an infinite number of tickets. I agree that the lack of a commo rose is rather disappointing... the "spot" system whilst easier (just Q to spot an enemy) just seems like it's slightly spammable... i have to admit as a sniper, if i'm not sure whether or not an enemy sniper is on a hill i just "trial spot" it to see if it highlights them. I don't think the Rush game mode necessarily needs one... i mean the UAV is now player controlled (as a vehicle) and there's not much need for the other features like Artillery (was just downright annoying) or the EMP (that thing hardly hit anyways). Squad coordination isn't needed either since Rush isn't amazingly team based (a good squad will do just fine).

i got mine yesterday, played through the whole single player on normal, had a bash at online and its pretty good: only played Rush mode for a few hours though.
did anyone else think its a bit silly giving the medic an LMG? given their ability to revive players it seems waaay too overpowered, ive seen a lot of squads full of medics just run into a base, continuously heal/revive each other and win the game, even if their team was losing, it happened far too much in BF2 aswell. i reckon LMGs should go to the assault class (or whatever its called), along with some 'nades to make up for the loss of the launcher, and medics should be given assault rifles.
