Ok. So just how much are people looking forward to this?
Remember however, rumour has it that BioWare are not the developer, with Obsidian (of KOTOR II and NWN 2 fame) developing for Atari.
Thoughts? Hopes? Fears?
And the most important question of all... should Boo return?

Aren't Bioware busy with Dragon Age: Origins which is hailed as the "spiritual successor" ? They're also working on Star Wars: The Old Republic which is the MMO so it looks like they've got a lot on their hands already lol.

If that is the case then I doubt the rumour is correct, to have all three of those titles in development sounds very far-fetched. Oh well, I will just have to content myself with SoA and ToB for a little while longer. David Warner voicing Irenicus just rocks!

I'll probably get flayed alive for this, but, whats Baldurs Gate?
I mean, I know its a game, and have heard the name, but never played it, seen it, looked into it or anything.

Think you got mixed up, the rumour is likely to be true (that Obsidian is developing, not Bioware). Bioware seem to have a history of passing on sequels to Obsidian, for example, as you pointed out KotOR2 and NWN2.

Cheers for that. I had indeed got confused. On the note of a spiritual successor, I found this: http://uk.gamespot.com/pc/rpg/dragonage/news.html?sid=6209374&tag=topslot;thumb;3

KOTOR 2 was pants. It was one massive plot hole fest. I'll bet Bioware we glad they didn't have anything to do with it. How can you have a BG3? The story finished with the expansion pack to BG2. Not that it matters. The BG3 rumour is very old news and is well out of date. Bioware no longer have the rights to D&D rules, which is why Dragon Ages doesn't use them. However this does explain the rumours of a BG3 as Bioware can still use D&D rules for the BG series. So it BG3 were ever made, it would be similar to Far Cry 2 in that it has nothing to do with the originals.

Even I know about Baulder's Gate It's a brilliant game! When I get a PC again it'll be one of those things which I'll get addicted to for a few weeks again! I didn't get the second game, having not finished all of the expansion packs for the first one...

I'll admit it had some serious issues but i wouldn't by any means call it a bad game... just lacking, especially since it had so much to follow up from.

It's the second best RPG of all time (the best being Baldur's Gate 2). The good news is that you can now download and install easy tutu that lets you play BG1 using the BG2 graphics engine. In English, that means you can use higher screen resolutions so it looks good on modern large screens.

Have just started a BGII play through again. David Warner's Irenicus has to go down as one of the best videogame performances ever!
A few choice Irenicus quotes:
"Life... is strength. That is not to be contested; it seems logical enough. You live; you affect your world."
"I wonder if you are destined to be forgotten. Will your life fade in the shadow of greater beings?"
"This woman had power, of a sort. She lost her parents to plague, her husband to war, but she persevered. She was well respected, her farm was prosperous and her children were well fed. And now she's dead."
"You rest each night uneasy. Yes, you are weary. You struggle daily... It will not end, you know."
"I cannot be caged. I cannot be controlled."
"To end, LIKE THIS!"
Has to be one of the best videogame baddies of all time. Brilliantly written, superbly voiced, detailed and convincing backstory and context, and just so detached from your usual two dimensional villain that videogames excel at throwing at you.

So the quotes are from: 1) a dream sequence 2) Irenicus escaping when he's sent to Spell Hold 3) The final cut sequence.
Any one think I've played that game far too much?
.... And Minsc has to one of the best "goodies" of all time.
"Go for the eyes Boo, go for the eyes!!!!" "Minsc will lead with blade and boot. Boo will take care of the details." "Butt kicking for goodness."
