Ok, this thread isn't for wimps. Right here, without any recourse to statement or discourse on the nature of art, subjectivity or context, posters must name what they believe is the best game ever made. So that means no "well I would consider the following my top three choices but I really can't decide" nonsense, or "before one could hypothetically choose what you naively postulate as the best game of all time, one has to muse upon the more vital question of 'what constitutes a game?'" twoddle. It is time to step up! One game must rule them all! Any platform, any generation. What is the best? Then, depending on the how successful this thread is, the game with the highest hit rate after ooh let's say, ten pages, is unarguably THE BEST GAME OF ALL TIME!So, without further ado... ... it begins. THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: THE OCARINA OF TIME

Age Of Empires (original, without expansions), I spent countless days/months playing that game, couldn't get enough of it, still play it actually, love it so much!!!

I think it has to be a defining moment in a genre or gaming as a whole. I'm thinking about the impact of Pong on the world or Sonic The Hedgehog on Mega Drive. Maybe even Resident Evil on PS1 the first time that damn dog jumps through a windows and caused me to actually turn the game off (welcome to survival horror!). Or actually walking past an arcade in Blackpool in the 90's hearing the scream of the theme tune DAAAAAAAAYYYYYYTOOOOOONAAAAAAA....... I read all about these so called textured polygons in a magazine but the first time I saw it? Wow! Clouds reflected in the car windows and all. It made Virtua Racing look ancient.
I'm sorry there's just too many to chose from. And I haven't even scratched the surface.
