The first details and images of Killzone 3 have hit the net - and confirmed that the game will be fully playable in 3D.

Scans from US mag GamePro have landed online, with Gamespot's forumites pulling the details apart.

The major step forward is that the title is in full 3D - as reported by CVG back in March.

According to alleged readers of the mag, Killzone 3...

- Will have jetpacks, which are "surprisingly lightweight and agile... compared to the sluggish incarnations of the gadget found in other games". These double up as a weapon, with a machine gun on top that makes Helghast "explode like Roman candles". To control the jetpack, you "have to activate bursts of speed in midair, propelling yourself across further distances". The Jetpack is said to resemble something from Super Mario Bros. or Uncharted.

- Will include arctic levels. One of which will see you "launch yourself from glacier to glacier".

- Is playable in 3D - but users have to wear 3D glasses. The 3D effects are described by GamePro as "crazy".

- Will show the Helghast have humanity left in them.

- Will have the feeling that "of being in a place far away from home, outnumbered by people who want to kill you".

- Will feature one mission where you rescue ISA Captain Narville

- Will feature "unchanged" combat... However, hand to hand combat involves you "Unloading a string of different (and often brutal) attacks on stunned enemies."

- Is "bigger".

- Features a new weapon called the Wasp, which shoots a "flurry of rockets" at an enemy.

- Will show off Helghast culture and a new language, which will be explored in the game.

- Will have "diverse locales".

Check out the first alleged image from the game on this very page. And try not to get too excited. We'll be sure to get hands-on with this at E3 - and you'll have the details as soon as we do.

Don't get me wrong, I haven't spent much time with the Killzone games (though the second one arrived in a bundle the other day), but they always felt really sluggish. Nothing I could quite put my finger on, but... :?

I know what you mean. I got to try KZ2 on my housemate's PS3, and to be frank wondered what all the fuss was about. I think it's that there seems to be a noticable delay between you telling the game to do something (like aim at that ne'er-do-wells head), and it actually doing it. I suppose I'm spoiled in the shooter department as a pc gamer, but from the praise it was getting I was expecting to find chocolate hobnob levels of pleasure, as opposed to a fairly pretty mediocre experience.
