Gaaaarrrrgggghhhh!!!!
Why is it that when I order something, it'll arrive well before midday if I'm at work all day but if I have the day off and am sitting around waiting, it won't arrive until the evening. Wish you could have real time tracking so you knew how far away the parcel was!

A netbook had to go back to Play - 'we'll get the courier to come out after four'. Half twelve they turned up when I was at work... Dunno whether Play fcuked up or the courier did

I am apparently sitting in waiting for a delivery to arrive. It’s for the neighbours, who are both out. I was volunteered for the job as I work from home. No idea when whateveritis turns up, but I bet it will arrive after the neighbours get back home.

With the popularity of internet shopping, we should be able to be given a rough time (e.g. between 2-3pm) when the delivery can be made. Even if it is that morning, an email would be nice saying "We've calculated our drivers route today and we'll be delivering your parcel between X and Y", at least then you could ask a neighbor to keep an eye out or try and go for an early/late lunch...

About 7-8 years ago there was a mention of using local shops/servos as depots. The idea was that you could nominate somewhere close to you that would generally be open well outside of normal office hours, and be able to pick your item up on the way home or at a more convenient time. Obviously nothing ever came of it.

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

That's the idea, but it could do with a few more depots and more marketing.

For me a simple 7-12 or 12-5 would be enough. I could have had a lie-in, taken a longer shower, played COD with the headset etc. They're using [LIFTED] link, who normally don't arrive until 11am at the earliest and as late as 430pm. What's annoying is that I may have to leave the house around 3pm because of work issues.

It is implemented here, although it is the courier that decides. They try and deliver and if nobody is home, they'll tell you at which local shop it has been left (or which depot, if you live in near one). DHL use a stationers about 1KM away and UPS have their regional sorting depot about 5KM away, so they don't use local stores.

Well it arrived. Right when I decided to get changed. Was stark naked when the doorbell rang!
Thankfully sister was home who answered the door.

A few more depots? It's mainly newsagents that choose to do it (guessing they get a small cut) but offies and other places do it too

I realise that shops et al are the depots, it's just that none of them would be convenient for me with regards to distance. Out of hours maybe.
