I take it the Calculator doesn't factor in the relative reduction in wage with relation to inflation from frozen wages?

That will effect everyone reasonably evenly. It depends on your income at a set time. In a year you could have had an increase but because it might hit a new level of tax or benefit reduction you could have an effective income tax rate higher than 50%.

Nice that they tell you three months in advance. Here it's one month, but when I was laid off it was instant and they just paid me an extra month on top of my redundancy.

That is more common. They get you out of the building before you can steal clients or data. In many organisations they escort you from the room straight to the door and someone else brings your possessions.
