Neither my (awesome) home-made trap, or the shop bought ones have so far successfully caught this mouse. I think I might have scared it away when I saw it initially - I went in and moved everything around being very noisey, and even smacked a brush up against the walls/floor/cupboards/fridge etc to try and scare it away.
Where did you place it?
Mice like to run along walls (IIRC you can see their trails as their urine (which they leak) shows up under UV light) so if it's not flush to a wall you wont have much luck
Yeah, I placed my home made trap just next to the fridge about an inch away from the wall - definitely within striking distance!
All the shop bought ones are in corners of the room except for one which is against the wall behind the fridge where there were a few droppings.
They all have little bits of snickers bar as bait except for the home-made trap which has peanut butter.
We had a mouse problem a couple of times. Wooden traps - decent wooden traps - are the most effective at catching and killing. But then you need to prevent them coming back. Analyse every place indoors and examine the outside of the house. We found where they were coming in from and sealed the area with bricks and sheet metal.
