If those are the rules, at work, then they should pay the difference between having it done properly and having it done at dealer prices...

Putting in my 2 pennies. Needed a new clutch on my car. It's an old Puma and ain't worth much but it's reliable and it's getting my boyfriend to work.
Got 2 local quotes from Enfield and Waltham Cross, North London:
Gates £420 Dagenham Motors £520
Got a quote in Southend where my boyfriend is working at the moment: £330.
Guess which garage we went to??

Nope - they make the rules and everybody has to stick to them. Well, it's all a bit 'grey' these days. We used to be on an essential car users allowance which was a payment of around £70 per month. My job was one of those qualified for the allowance so you got it whether you wanted it or not. Of course, you had to provide a car. Then (without agreement) they bought us out of the scheme but the requirement to provide a car for work remained. It could be argued because of the buy out that cars should no longer be supplied but it's written into my contract so I'm stuck with it. The council will shortly be getting pool cars which I'm looking forward to driving the ar$e off. Al

I watched American Dad last night. He kept getting conned by a car salesman.

Find the best price and pay it, or do it yourself. How many people here charge either individually or through their company, what could be considered extortionate fees for their services?

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.
