There are several malware/scareware packs out there pretending to be AV solutions which pop up all kinds of bogus messages about this, that and the other being attacked or compromised. Most can be cured, as others have suggested, by safe mode with networking, download and run anti-malware bytes.
Bratty, last time I checked, NOD32 was AV only. What other protection were you running?
Microsoft Security Essentials is ok for basic all-round protection, providing you have a legit copy of windows (not that I'm suggesting otherwise).

Spybot Search & Destroy is also pretty good.

That was the other good malware detector. I could not remember its name.

I always use both together. One always picks up something that the other missed. Adaware Download Page - click on the "Download" button on the left >> Spybot Mirrors List <<

I always advise my windows user friends to use both. And run them multiple times.

I ended up having a nice on-line virus scan once. It told me that a number of files on my C: drive were infected, and the dialogue window it sowed me looked genuine enough for Windows. Shame I was running a Mac really. It was pretty annoying, and I had to force quit Safari. It was an advert coming from a different server to the site I was visiting. Such ads are generally contained in an iFrame, which effectively punches a hole in the web page to allow content from elsewhere through. So, as well as performing the usual anti-virus scans etc., I’d also suggest you register with opendns - http://www.opendns.com - and set it to filter out advert domains. Instead of using your ISP’s dns servers, use opendns instead. It’s another layer of protection. Alternatively, install Linux or get a Mac.

The Illuminati are behind it. Bratty knows too much.

Get Malwarebytes - it's very good at removing these "fake" antivirus malware infections.

Also check your proxy settings. We've seen this hijack the proxy settings before.
