I'd stop it at the router without mentioning anything to her.

No doubt she will come and ask you for some free (and immediate) tech support and then you can fiddle around nicely with Limewire before shrugging your shoulders and saying you don't know what's wrong.

Simples.

Heh, heh, heh...

That should work nicely, so long as she doesn't read x404...

Depending on your router you may be able to block some or all of the ports that Limewire uses so that it breaks but the rest of the internet is working.
Then when she asks for you assistance you can do a little snooping and tell her the dodgy stuff she's downloaded has introduced a virus and then delete all the illegal stuff she's downloaded to correct the problem.

Or just completely block her computer and tell her exactly why.

I'm working with a BT Home Hub (Version 2), and it seems access control is all or nothing (I can't find any options for blocking ports etc). If I can get my hands on her laptop I'm tempted to instruct her Firewall to block Limewire...

That's your problem. You need Linux. That'll fix all your problems.

IIRC the Home Hubs are based on Thomson hardware. I've got a Thomson 585 v7 router and, as you say, it's configurability leaves a lot to be desired compared to other routers I've had (Netgear are good and quite easy, Draytek offer serious configuration options but you need to know what you're doing).

Wireless? If so can you block her by only allowing certain MAC addresses to connect to the router.
