I went to the Red Hot Buffet Shack in Notts last Christmas. They had a dessert they dont serve anymore and I'm dying to know what it was. Can anyone help?

1) it was white and airy - almost like a mouse but stiff and a little sticky - a bit like the middle of a walnut whip
2) it was plain apart from a bit of fruit stuck on top (maybe a layer of red jelly, cant remember)
3) the taste was plain, maybe vanilla, again like the walnut whip
4) it was round in shape, like a sponge cake, and stood freely i.e. not in a bowl

Anyone had anything similar before or know what it might have been?

Italian meringue? It's not baked like a traditional one.

That got me looking and I came across bavarois. I wonder if that could be it?
