So the bitchy, self-interested, fashion-chasing, money-grabbing, tequila-chugging, coke-snorting, commitment-incapable, serial shagging, work-shy, foul-mouthed, gossip-mongering, honour-free-zones that swell the pages of celebrity magazines are better role models are they?

"There is a big difference in the movie superhero of today and the comic book superhero of yesterday," she said.

"These men, like Iron Man, exploit women, flaunt bling and convey their manhood with high-powered guns."

Erm, to use the example she gives, Stark/Iron Man of 1963 is pretty much the same guy he is today in the films - wealthy, genius playboy with the women lusting after him :?

And other than Iron Man, who's she talking about when she mentions guns? Wouldn't be the heroes/anti-heroes that turn up in superhero films kids shouldn't be watching anyway, would it?

Supes and Bats appeared in the '30s and it took decades before their 'character rules' were fully established

To cut a long story short, comics cover damn near everything these days, and you'd better believe they'll put them out as films if they even think there's a market for it. Oh, yes, she should be pleased with Captain America, the new Supes, Thor...
