Got introduced to this today. A couple of lads from work do it as a bit of a pastime. Looks excellent fun for the kids. I was just wondering if anyone here has tried it? http://www.geocaching.com/

I found out about is last month, it sounds really cool, but I don't have a GPS... Apparently using maps isn't as fun...

Yes, it does look fun. One of the lads demonstrated it today. Got his GPS out and took us straight to a cache in the local Tesco's carpark, no more than 200 yards away from where we were working. There must be millions of cache's.

My mate wanted us to go around Derby doing it a year or two back. Still haven't got around to it.

Good idea, although it does remind me of Letterboxing.

Was just talking to one of the engineers from work, he was the one that told me about it a few weeks ago. His other half is German, and when they went over to see her parents they went Geocaching, found this little German doll thing, and brought it back to England, it sat on their computer desk for about four months as they were too busy to go and plant it anywhere. Eventually they planted it, and within a week someone had picked it up and taken it back to Germany!

Just been looking at a few in my area on google maps. One is an ammo box containing paper, pencils (for logging your team name) and a disposable camera. The idea being when you find it you take a pic of yourself, then the person who takes the last pic on the film makes a note on the site to say it's full, then the pics get posted online! Ha, it does sound quite interesting, and the kids will love it. Just like real life treasure hunting for them.
