So let me get this "straight" - what he's saying is that with a "normal" cable, a "1" goes in one end and comes out "different" at the other? What happens? Does it get a bit chipped as it passes down the cable? Do the zeros flow easier because they're rounder off and can get around the bends easier?

notice he specifically mentions black and red SATA cables, maybe different coloured ones are better and blocking interference and more up to the job?

Its true. Its all true I tell ya.
I upgraded the USB cable on my digital camera and now when I transfer a photo from camera to PC the quality is sooooo much better. Vibrance, presentation, depth, all improved! And my printer too. Prints come out so much better with my SuperUSB cable. I upgraded the HDMI on my PS3 and now the graphics are as good as a PC running 1900x1200. Who'd have thought it!
These 0 and 1s are magic! I think the better cables and an extra 2 or something.

What a cnut

1) misinformed opinion destroyed by widely known fact, as usual 2) what was he expecting? when you post drivel like that on the internet, people are going to call you out on it. some of them might not be entirely polite 3) if he knew it wasnt possible, then why make the post? as an audiophile, he should be aware of the placebo effect. this smells of publicity stunt, id never even heard of the guy, and now hes plastered all over tech blogs 4) sounds like a helpful answer to me

For purists: analogue formats > digital formats (and age doesn't matter that much). Simple as that. Your iPod regardless of size would struggle to fit a lossy vinyl collection of any respectable size on

Precisely. I would only have taken notice of his view had it been subject to a blind test on a number of people. As it is, I am not bothered enough about sound quality to feel the need to try it myself.

It's based around the way the data is transmitted & how error correction works. With a poor quality cable error correction had to kick in more to ensure the data is correct, the error correction circuits produce noise which effects the audio/video being displayed.
