Hi all,

I use the BBC mobile site a fair amount on my iPod Touch, and on Saturday it appeared to have been upgraded, allowing me to customise the news and weather I saw on the home page. It remembered all these choices on Sunday too, I was quite impressed...

Then yesterday I see we're back to the old design, no customisation or new style...What's happened?

I know they are in the process of upgrading all their sites to be customisable portals. I guess they put it live and something went wrong so they rolled it back.

I'm sure it will reappear in good time.

What is a customisable portal, exactly? :?

That sounds horribly web 0.2 and gimmicky - like the iGoogle thing.

It is - the BBC web site lets you move stuff around, add bits etc.. It remembers your settings until next time too.

All jolly fun, and I’ve visited the BBC’s home page about 5 times. I tend to go to the places I want directly.

Yeah, I do the same. Infact, I don't think I've ever visited their home page. :?

*sigh*

I know why...
My iPod Safari bookmark pointde to:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/mobile/i/
On Satirday/Sunday they redirected me to:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/mobile

On Monday they didn't redirect me and I got the old homepage..

And yes, it still remembers what I asked it to remember :D
