The main problem here, winters are wet and damp. Give me -10, snow and air fresh enough to clean your lungs out anyday.

Denver. You'd love it. 300 days of sunshine (more than Miami and less old people), and proper snow in the winter with clear skies and crisp air. Mountains just out of town, all of the amenities afforded the largest city for 800m, great cultural melting pot and tons of outdoor stuff to do as well as shopping, entertainment etc.

If it had ocean it'd be perfect for me, but I'm a sucker for the coast and I'm not sure even the Rockies and Pikes Peak (whilst ABSOLUTELY stunning) would suffice for me long-term.

I think as a visitor you never really get any idea of the country's bureaucracy.
I don't care about bureaucracy when there's Jökulsárlón.
For those that weren't previously in the know (like me!), and for those that couldn't be bothered to search (or those that just didn't/don't care) … this is Jökulsárlón.

Beautiful.

Not sure if that's everything I would need to make the move though.

Everything comes after the move.

Ahh.
Well, as I said all the way back on page 1, if I had to stay in the U.K. then I'd really like to move to the Lake District. Outside of the U.K. then yes, Iceland would be top of the list.
