Dan, I'm not dismissing what your saying. But Jon's right, the extensive coverage here is entirely unwarranted. Fact is, whatever the tea party are about, whatever commie-burning, baby-killing people get airtime in that country - doesn't affect foreign policy substantially. And ultimately, whilst the West Wing was cool and American politics can be very interesting, I feel there are bigger fish right now.

I suspect it gets coverage just because they are seen as so right wing and generally bonkers by most people over here. As such it makes for 'good television'.
