Quite. This ain't no corporate London gaff. 6meg most of the time on 20:1 is ample for mostly me. The upload is annoying when I'm updating the website, but we really do live at the end of the world here.

Currently 8Mb (I think 20:1), shared between 5 or 6 people, plus email server - I should have looked at upgrading this ages ago, but we're moving offices early next year so will see what speeds are available in their chosen area - still looking at offices at the moment! I've told them the line speed should be the priority, but the boss isn't listening.

at school we have 30mb up and down, fibre straight to the exchange we have about 500-600 computers though, so when they all go onto the internet, gets abit annoying

Until BT upgrade our exchange we have 4 x 8mb lines - usually get around 6mb with 20:1 contention ratio.

We have 50mb synch on a 100mb bearer for about 20 people.
I config routers for a client that has 3 offices in and around London, 1 in Scotland, and soon will have 1 in Australia (with plans for more around the far east and other bits of the UK), but only has a 4mb line with upgrade potential to about 10mb. They plan use terminal services with no local domain controllers or wan accelerators in the remote offices, to serve the whole lot from one office (that lacks even a server room).

10mb for 40 people is about right. I know bigger companies that just have adsl lines.
