Watching beowulf on five. Last time I saw it was on DVD. Anyway, it reminds me of another film that came on TV a few years back, also of a Scandinavian/Germanic background.
I remember something about swords. Not sure of much else. I think the hero may have been dipped in a river (as a child?) and made invulnerable but a leaf falls and covers part of his body and creates a vulnerability. Anyone recall whay it is?

Sounds like the story of Achilles, Troy perhaps?
In which case the vulnerable area was caused by his mother's hand when he was dipped in the water rather than a leaf.

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

Hence the term "Achille's heel" meaning a flaw or vulnerability in something.

It wasn't Troy. Achilles was Greek, not Northern Europe/Scandinavian.

Okay so the main guy was Seigfried or Sigurd. But that doesn't tell me the film name and I'm struggling.

^^^Thanks for that. Whacked it into Amazon and it came out as "Sword of Xanten", which is exactly the title I remember!

I have seen that, it starred Kristanna Loken who played the terminator in the third Terminator film. Also in the "Blood Rayne" films.
