Some idiot just threw a cigarette butt in the rubish bin outside (one of those huge plastic jobbies on wheels) and it the rubbish inside caught fire... The bin is melted on one side and buckled, and now full of water, because the firebrigade turned up (with 3 vehicles).

Either the fire brigade were extremely bored, or for whatever reason they overestimated the situation by the sound of it

I want to lol but shouldn't. Sorry to hear that the bin was destroyed but at least no-one was hurt.

The number of vehicles that respond is defined by law. I think it depends on the type of building and the size of the local brigade. As we are a large converted factory, the local house has to turn out in full force and assess whether they need backup... In England, the last office I worked in required a minimum of 6 tenders for any automatic alarm call! That was expensive when the new alarm system went of 4 times in 2 weeks!

We had a fire in halls and they sent nine fire engines, one of those massive dedicated ladder trucks and a transit van with some gear in it. Our building is three storeys including ground floor and houses 42 people!
