I had the weeble bus, and it wouldn't surprise me if my parents still had it in their loft.

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

Three words : Cuban, missile, crisis.

Mark

Really?? Threads was 20yrs on and I wasn't alive in '62! So yeah, my chances have always been low. If they'd have made Threads in the 60s, fair enough. But after Detente, you'd think everybody just wanted to get on with their lives. The 80s was supposed to be a time for disgustingly overt wealth, Libyan terrorists with bazookas and AIDS - not nuclear paranoia.

And Jim, what's all this "we"?? You weren't around then either!

Wanna know what happens in a nuclear blast and don't wanna be traumatised afterwards? Indy IV...

The late 70s saw such a significant deterioration in East-West relations that the period from 1979-1985 is known as the Second Cold War. Relations only started to thaw after Gorgeous chops became General Secretary in 1985 and moved away from military escalation to counter the USSR's economic problems.

Had the balloon actually gone up, neither of us would be around today either. ;)

There was an incident that occurred in 1983, which has stuck with me.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Korean_Air ... Flight_007

Essentially, a South Korean airliner strayed into Soviet airspace, and was shot down.

I remember going to bed that night and wondering if we'd be alive to wake up in the morning. :(

I don't remember that one.

However, in three months we'll be remembering the 25th anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster - I remember that one very well. One of the reasons that Chernobyl was so very dangerous was that the USSR didn't tell anyone that it was the power plant that had gone up. Our military thought that someone had nuked the massive "secret" military radar station down the road.

It was about the time I left sixth form and decided not to go to university because graduates were spending months on the dole.

I remember coming home from the Pub around that time with a mate of mine ,both of us slightly worse for wear.
My mate decided that he didn't like the idea of a nuclear strike fecking up the world & was gonna do himself in, which led me telling him not to be a complete d*ckhead & kicking the sh*te out of him for being stupid

Lifes not quite as much fun now, though we do have the Conservatives in power so who knows what will happen............. ;)

yours wecrookie
