Hi.

I was going to purchase an item tomorrow night, with a view to next day delivery for Wednesday, when I am at home, but I noticed that the site only says 1 left, so I have just ordered it.

So, the site asks me to use Google Account to pay and doesn't seem to give me an option to use anything else, although I noticed later that somewhere on the site it says Paypal preferred. :?

So I get to the order stage, place the order and when I go from the Google site, the retailer's site still shows my order in the basket. I actually placed it again, before I realised what I had done and fortunately cancelled it.

So, nearly two hours later, the site has no record of my order, my items are still shown in the basket and the item is still shown in stock. When can I expect to find out if it is mine? After all, someone could either have already ordered one, or maybe even ordered AND paid by some other method.

I am not impressed, and won't be using Google Account if I can possibly avoid it in future.

I try to avoid Google in that regard where possible - it's just another opportunity for something to go wrong between you and the seller. Shipping to NI, for instance :x

Have you checked in your Google Checkout account?

I find using Google Checkout a breeze, and actually prefer it to using Paypal.

Yes. I realised that I had to go there as soon as I suspected (or knew would be more accurate) that I'd placed the order twice. I cancelled the second order and the other one is still there, plain as day.

As noted, however, there is no record of the order being completed on the retailer's site, which, while it might not delay anything, might mean that the last one has actually been sold, or may be so IF another payment method is used to purchase the final item.

Well, I've had an e-mail from the retailer confirming the order, but there is still nothing on the retailer's account page about it.

And interestingly enough, they now have 4 in stock, apparently.

I have waited more than six months for something to come in stock on one site before now, and eventually it was removed from sale on that site- not an essential item, but much cheaper than elsewhere- so I was slightly concerned that this item might disappear from stock before mine was sorted, or at least no longer be available at the bargain price.
