to put it shortly, im after 5 czech rally crash DVDs, I find the dvds im after on a german website, I contact website and they give me a invoice for 60 euros. I then do some little research and a czech website sells them all for 25 euros, big price differance so I would want to order from them and so I emailed the german site asking why their price is so high and didn't really get an answer so I contacted the other site asking if they ship to UK but no reply (the site is all in czech language with no english option) so its ironic how I cant get the dvds cheaper as the czech people wont get back to me but the german expensive one always does so it seems I have no choice but to be ripped off. Although I said to the german one that you can forget it because I woudnt like to order from yourself knowing that they are available cheaper elsewhere :(

So now if I want these dvds bad then this german site I will have to go crawling back to him etc etc  what a mess

what would the people here had done in this situation? is it rude to ask for discount in this situation? etc

Nope. I'd probably have done the same, apart from the bit where I was rude to the German site.
There's nothing wrong at all in asking for a price match.

You get what you pay for... ;)

Czech is very cheap, their economy is much poorer than Germany or the UK, so their wares are also much cheaper...

But be careful, the Czech stuff is usually very closely scrutinised, when it comes into the country, at least in Germany, as Czech and Poland are renowned for selling cheap, poor quality copies of original products (Puma, Adidas etc. are constantly organising razzias against the market stalls near the western borders of the east European states).

I'm not saying that the Czech site is selling dodgy DVDs, but you should be aware that the DVDs could be destroyed by customs, if they are not originals and you will still have to pay the import duty - and try and get your money back off the site... I would definitely check the reputation of the Czech site (and the German one, for that matter), before ordering.

You can try and get a discount from the German site - be foreful, but ALWAYS be polite, otherwise the price is likely to go up! ;)

Have you considered using google translate to help you order it from the Czech site?

ye but it doesnt work when I use the site translated :(

anyone reckon this is normal? to put the story short, ages ago I found a little site selling swedish rally crash DVDS, I bought one and it arrived fine, he contacted me asking me where I could get some UK crash rally dvds and I said a few names, and today whilst tidying realised I have 2 duplicate dvds of the same which are UK based rally crashes. So just now I emailed him and asked if hes still after UK crashes and proposed a swap where I would send him the 2 dvds for 2 of his swedish dvds

was this cheeky?

Not really. You both got what you wanted.
