My wife usually cuts the grass whilst I'm at work. 8-)

That is what she tells you but she is secreting porking the gardener in exchange for grass cutting.

Bast@rd better start raking up the grass cuttings then!

Zippy might want it; she just took over a massive paddock and is currently using a scythe!

Although Dorset to The Midlands is a long drive on a mower

Buying a ride on lawnmower when you don't have a lawn is apparently quite a common purchase when drunk.

You are not allowed to mow your lawn on a Sunday here. Noisy jobs (outside) are also not allowed.

You are also not allowed to make a loud noise after 21:00 during the week, so working on the house is also hard, if you work all day, you only get a couple of hours to use power tools or a sledge hammer.

Additionally, Cw, you cannot wash you car at home (environmental pollution), you can only wash it at an auto wash, which has to have an industrial filtration unit to remove the chemicals from the water, before it can enter the drainage system.

Could be fun though. I'm keeping it anyway as I hope to move somewhere with a bigger garden soon.

Yup, I picked that up over at DW, which must make it a PITA to keep the car swirl free. Apparently, there are also limitations on which products can also be used.

Cut the grass? Isn't it pissing it down there?
If it's dry, get it cut. It'll bug you for days if you don't.

I'm not totally sure of the law here, but I think the cut-off times are 7am and 11pm any day of the week.

*looks it up* - yep

I have my speakers on all day and night but the volume is set very low. So it is not noticeable outside or next door. I am aware that no-one keeps the strange hours that I do so have a 9pm watershed when I turn everything down regardless.

I forgot, there is also the "Mittagsruhe", the lunch time peace, which even builders have to keep to. No mowing or building between 12:00 and 15:00 - it depends on the location. It isn't a country wide law, different states and different communities have local by-laws (or none at all, in some big cities, like Berlin).

Are you sure you are in Germany? It sounds like a Spanish siesta.

On Sundays, the wife and I go swimming or go for a drive somewhere if it is a nice day.

I believe you closed early on a Wednesday so you could open Saturday morning. You had the same amount of hours in the week but could afford to open at the weekend...

There are a few shops around Aber that do. I don't know if the tobacconists still do, but I remember when they did.
